Not unlike the situation in Austin back in the days when
the guys creating "Austin City
Limits" saw a great music energy happening, and wanted to capture it on film
and take the
Austin scene to the rest of the country...
LA
has a huge country scene that is ready to burn down the barn...and because we are in
Hollywood, every
act from Austin to Nashville has a need to "do Hollywood," so the talent
stream from Austin the sounds here in the real West.
Another important element of the show at this time is the
local reality that KZLA the
one and only country radio station has dropped the
country format, leaving no country
stations in LA County. I think that this could fill
a void in the LA area. Could be great
show to not only reach an audience, but serve as a medium
for advertising of other
country events.
HOLLYWOOD
COUNTY LINE is a mix of hot national headline acts, opening
acts by local
and/or upcoming talent, and a jammin' house band,
THE BUNKHOUSE BOYS, that can not
only rock
the house and entertain on their own, but can back up any famous artists
that we
bring to the stage.
For the pilot
and a DVD on LA Country music in the summer of 2006 we have
shot the following:
American
Idol winner goes to the top of the country charts, and in April this
year most of the Idol
contenders are singing country songs, Jimmie Buffet hits the country
charts in duet with Allen Jackson, Bon Jovi hits # 1 on country and pop charts
with Sugar Land's Jennifer Nettles. Kenny Chesney is
#3 top earning musician 2005, just behind U2 and the Rolling Stones. Shania Twain and
Faith Hill cross over to the top of the pop charts, the Eagles are
played on the country stations, Robin Williams next movie he plays a
cowboy, and Broke Back Mountain has Hollywood abuzz, Van Morrison
releases a country CD, and special on CMT from the Ryman in Nashville, and country act Little Big Town is on road with
John Mellencamp, Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler is out with Emmylou
Harris, Bee Gee Barry Gibb just bought Johnny Cash's house and is moving
to Nashville, Bob Dylan has been touring for the past
year with Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Junior Brown, and wearing cowboy outfits
with a ten gallon hat and a band that verges on being a Texas Swing
band...
I have a huge list of other
potential acts to line up. The talent list is endless
The Cowbelles
Since the barn dances of old, country music and dancin'
cowgirls goes together like hay
and horses. The Cowbelles add fun and beauty to the
show each night. These hip swingin
drink slingin, denim and diamonds, leather and lace
wearin, boot skootin cowbelles in tight
fittin jeans fit right in with the music. Might
see the cowbelles dancin on a table, a bail of
hay, on the stage, or out on the dance floor...eeeeeeeehaw.
Another fun part of the night is the
Celeb Jam each
night...we will have celebs
come up and do a couple songs with the Bunkhouse Band.
We have already had
Jeffery Steele, Buck Page, Joey Covington, from the
Jefferson Airplane, and
others. This is a special "surprise" element
of the show. And because we are in
Hollywood, you never know who might show up.
We will have the creative blend of Country
Music...dancing, interviews with the artists and
band members, shots from sound checks...a fun
backstage look at a band performing
Part of the night will be a
look at
behind the scene, and fun interviews with the band and
the performers.

The show takes on some of the feel of the long
running PBS show Austin City

meets
Coyote Ugly Saloon meets the CMT Outlaw
Specials in a multimedia

are going to interview
