SCOTT
HELMER
Scott Helmer is a master of reinvention and like his music – an
inspiration. His
contagious, radio-friendly blend of rock and pop infuses memorable
guitar riffs, catchy sing-along choruses and lyrics that tell real
stories of love, pain and starting over. These songs, co-written and
recorded with his talented photographer/musician brother, Rich
Helmer,
have also crossed over to fans of Country & Americana, where solid
songwriting and storytelling are so highly valued. Scott has
just recently opened for the legendary band Heart...

Singer-Songwriter to Open for Hall of Fame Inductees on April 7
in Phoenix
Phoenix, Ariz. –
Singer-Songwriter Scott Helmer’s Support
YOUR Cause Tour 2012-2013,
his personal effort to raise $1 million for organizations that do
good work, just received a big boost – an invitation to open for
iconic rock band Heart at
the Celebrity
Theatre in
Phoenix on April 7. “I’ve been a huge fan of Heart ever since I was
a kid,” said Helmer, who’s been busy spreading his own unique blend
of rock and pop in acoustic shows across the nation since kicking
off the Support
YOUR Cause Tour 2012-2013 in
April last year. “To be opening for a band like Heart less than a
year after starting my own tour – it really is a dream come true.
The invitation came in just a few days before my birthday and I
can’t think of a better present!” A chance to win two front-row
tickets to the April 7 show is being offered on
Celebrity
Theatre’s Facebook page.
Helmer’s goal with the album and tour is to raise $1 million in
donations to groups that do good work. He’s doing it by playing for
free at benefit concerts and other fundraising events for
non-profits all over the country. Helmer puts himself through an
exhausting tour schedule. “I do it because I hope that it will
inspire others to take whatever they’re passionate about and use it
to help the people and causes that need it most.” Proceeds from the
sale of Wake Me When It’s Over will defray the costs of being
constantly on tour during 2013 as Helmer plans to make stops in
every single state of the country, including Alaska and Hawaii. A
video look-back at some of the people and places from the 24 Nights
2012 leg of the tour is available for viewing at Helmer’s website: http://www.scotthelmer.com/pages/video.

In addition to all the different venues, many of which conducted
their own fundraising events and donation collections for food
pantries, toy drives and more, Helmer also donated his time to play
in hospitals throughout the tour. “What a lonely time for folks
stuck in a hospital over the holiday season. My heart really goes
out to them, so I wanted to do what I could to cheer them up.”
